DELIVERY TIMEFRAMES

3.1 Standard Lead Times

Stock Items:

  • Gauteng: 2-3 working days
  • Mpumalanga: 1-2 working days
  • Other Provinces: 3-5 working days
  • Remote Areas: 5-10 working days

Special Order Items:

  • Lead time depends on supplier and manufacturer
  • Typically 2-6 weeks for special orders
  • Import items: 8-12 weeks
  • Custom fabricated items: quoted separately

3.2 Urgent and Expedited Delivery

Express Delivery:

  • Available for in-stock items
  • Same-day delivery (Gauteng/Mpumalanga - if ordered by 10 AM)
  • Next-day delivery (selected routes)

Project Critical Deliveries:

3.3 Factors Affecting Delivery Time

Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by:

4.1 Standard Delivery Fees

4.2 Additional Charges

Special Services (additional fees may apply):

  • Residential delivery: +R200
  • After-hours delivery: +R500 - R1,500
  • Weekend delivery: +R800 - R2,000
  • Crane truck or specialized equipment: quoted separately
  • Multi-drop deliveries: +R150 per additional stop
  • Waiting time (over 30 minutes): R300/hour
  • Difficult access locations: quoted on assessment
  • Return trips (if delivery refused): full delivery charge

4.3 Free Delivery

Qualifying Conditions:

  • Minimum order value: R50,000
  • Standard commercial address
  • Standard business hours delivery (Mon-Fri, 8 AM - 5 PM)
  • Accessible loading area
  • Customer provides offloading
  • Gauteng and Mpumalanga only

DELIVERY PROCESS

5.1 Order Confirmation

Upon order placement:

  1. You receive order confirmation via email
  2. Estimated delivery date provided
  3. Payment processed (or credit approved)
  4. Order prepared for dispatch

5.2 Pre-Delivery Notification

Before delivery:

  • We contact you 24-48 hours before delivery
  • Confirm delivery address and contact person
  • Provide estimated delivery time window
  • Confirm site access requirements

5.3 Delivery Day

On delivery day:

  • Driver contacts you upon departure
  • Estimated arrival time provided
  • Driver arrives with delivery documentation
  • Inspection and sign-off required

5.4 Delivery Documentation

Each delivery includes:

  • Delivery note with item descriptions
  • Quantities delivered
  • Material certificates (where applicable)
  • Invoice or packing slip
  • Mill test certificates (if requested)

DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS

6.1 Site Access Requirements

Your Responsibility:

  • Ensure site is accessible for delivery vehicle
  • Provide clear directions and gate codes
  • Arrange security clearance in advance
  • Confirm weight and height restrictions
  • Designate safe offloading area

Vehicle Specifications:

  • Standard trucks: up to 12 meters long
  • Rigid trucks: up to 18 tons
  • Articulated trucks: up to 28 tons (for bulk orders)
  • Crane trucks: up to 15 tons lifting capacity

6.2 Offloading Requirements

Standard Delivery:

  • Driver will assist with offloading to ground level
  • Customer must provide adequate labor for handling
  • Suitable equipment required for heavy items
  • Safe working area must be provided

Customer Responsibilities:

  • Provide forklift or crane (if required)
  • Ensure competent operators available
  • Clear space for offloading
  • Secure storage area

We Do Not Provide:

  • Onward movement from delivery point
  • Hoisting to upper floors
  • Installation or positioning services
  • Storage beyond delivery point

6.3 Delivery Acceptance

Inspection Requirement: You MUST inspect all deliveries immediately:

  • Count all items against delivery note
  • Check for visible damage
  • Verify correct materials delivered
  • Confirm quantities match order

Sign-Off:

  • Signature on delivery note confirms acceptance
  • Note any discrepancies or damage on delivery note
  • Take photos of any damage
  • Retain all packaging for damaged items

DELIVERY ISSUES

7.1 Damaged Goods

If materials are damaged during transit:

Immediate Action (at delivery):

  1. Note damage on delivery note before signing
  2. Take clear photographs of damage
  3. Retain all packaging materials
  4. Do not use or install damaged materials

Within 48 Hours:

  1. Email photos and details to sales@solidedgeindustrialsupplies.co.za
  2. Include invoice/delivery note number
  3. Provide description of damage

Our Response:

  • Inspection arranged within 2 working days
  • Replacement or credit issued for confirmed damages
  • Collection of damaged items arranged
  • Insurance claims processed where applicable

7.2 Incorrect or Incomplete Deliveries

Missing Items:

  • Report within 48 hours of delivery
  • Provide delivery note and invoice number
  • Outstanding items shipped at no additional charge

Wrong Items Delivered:

  • Do not use incorrect materials
  • Contact us within 48 hours
  • Collection and replacement arranged
  • No charge for our error

7.3 Delivery Delays

If your delivery is delayed:

  • We will notify you as soon as possible
  • Provide updated delivery estimate
  • Offer alternative delivery options where available

You May:

  • Request urgent alternative sourcing (subject to availability)
  • Cancel order if delay is unacceptable (before shipment)
  • Request compensation only if gross negligence proven

We Are Not Liable For:

  • Consequential losses due to delays
  • Project delays or penalties
  • Lost profits or business interruption
  • Third-party supplier delays

7.4 Failed Deliveries

Delivery may fail if:

  • Site inaccessible
  • No authorized person available to receive
  • Insufficient offloading equipment/labor
  • Unsafe delivery conditions
  • Incorrect delivery information provided

Failed Delivery Charges:

  • Return trip charge applies
  • Storage fees if applicable
  • Redelivery charged separately

RECIPIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

8.1 Before Delivery

You must ensure:

  • Correct and complete delivery address provided
  • Site access information communicated
  • Security clearance arranged
  • Contact person available on delivery day
  • Offloading equipment/labor ready

8.2 During Delivery

You must:

  • Have authorized person present to receive
  • Inspect all materials immediately
  • Count and verify against delivery note
  • Note any discrepancies before signing
  • Provide safe working environment for driver

8.3 After Delivery

You must:

  • Store materials properly
  • Report damages within 48 hours
  • Retain delivery documentation
  • Arrange insurance (if required)

9.2 Emergency Deliveries

9.3 Consignment Stock

For regular customers:

  • Stock held at your site
  • Monthly reconciliation and billing

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

10.1 Export Deliveries

Available Destinations:

  • SADC countries (Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia)
  • Other African countries (on request)
  • International (selected destinations)

Export Requirements:

  • Valid export documentation
  • Compliance with destination country regulations
  • Import permits (customer's responsibility)
  • Payment in advance (no credit terms for exports)

10.2 Export Documentation

We provide:

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Certificate of origin (if required)
  • Export declaration
  • Mill test certificates

Customer Provides:

  • Import permits
  • Customs clearance
  • Destination duties and taxes

10.3 Incoterms

We typically ship:

  • EXW (Ex Works): Customer arranges transport
  • FOB (Free on Board): To South African border
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight): To destination port (quoted separately)

RISK AND TITLE

11.1 Transfer of Risk

Risk in goods passes to you:

  • Upon delivery and sign-off at your location
  • Upon collection from our facility
  • At agreed delivery point for partial deliveries

11.2 Title Retention

Title (ownership) remains with SOLIDEDGE INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES until:

  • Full payment received for the goods
  • All outstanding amounts settled (for account customers)
  • Clearance of payment confirmed

INSURANCE

12.1 Our Insurance

Goods are insured during transport by:

  • SOLIDEDGE INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES (our fleet)
  • Freight carrier (third-party transport)
  • Coverage: damage, loss, theft during transit

12.2 Your Responsibility

After delivery acceptance:

  • You are responsible for insuring materials
  • We recommend immediate coverage
  • Especially for high-value orders
  • Claims against our insurance only for transit damage

PACKAGING

13.1 Standard Packaging

Materials supplied in:

  • Manufacturer's original packaging (where possible)
  • Palletized loads (for bulk items)
  • Crated shipments (for fragile materials)
  • Bundled pipes and fittings
  • Protective wrapping for weather protection

13.2 Special Packaging

Available on request:

  • Export crating
  • Weather-proof wrapping
  • Individual component packaging
  • Custom packaging (charges apply)

13.3 Packaging Returns

  • Pallets and crates may be returnable (specify at order)
  • Credit issued for returned packaging in good condition
  • Return transport at customer's cost
